"Want to Delegate Better? Try Moving in Slow Motion"

Slowing down felt unnatural to that ex-England basketball player, but it worked. The fake move landed.

Delegation’s the same. When you’re experienced, it’s tempting to rush:

  • “Here’s the task.”
  • “You’ve got this, right?”
  • “Great, let me know when it’s done.”

But what feels fast to you might be too fast for them. If they’re missing context or confidence, things go sideways.

Good delegation often feels too slow. Explaining background, confirming understanding, checking in—it can feel like overkill.

But that’s the pace that builds trust, capability, and eventually… speed.

Tomorrow: why slowing down isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Until then,
