"You’re Not a Micromanager, You’re a Leader"

In yesterday’s email, we talked about slowing down when delegating, even if it feels like overkill.

But let’s be honest: slowing down can feel uncomfortable.
Especially for those of us who came from engineering backgrounds.

You don’t want to hover. You don’t want to annoy. You definitely don’t want to be that manager.

So you back off. You delegate fast. You don’t follow up.
But then… the outcome misses the mark.

Here’s the messy middle: what feels like micromanagement to you might feel like support to someone else.

Slowing down doesn’t mean taking control.
It means sharing context. Clarifying expectations. Checking in at the right time.

That’s not micromanagement. That’s good delegation.

Tomorrow, we’ll look at how to adapt your delegation style so it lands better without over- or under-managing.

Until then,
Dermot
