"Why fixing weaknesses can backfire"

Common wisdom says a great footballer should be two-footed. But Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest of all time, is famously one-footed.

Yes, he can use his right when he needs to. But his brilliance comes from leaning into his left foot, the strength that set him apart from the very beginning.

Imagine if a coach had insisted he “fix his weakness.” He might have lost the confidence and spark that got him noticed at all.

It’s the same in our teams. If we focus too much on patching weaknesses, we risk dulling the very strengths that make people exceptional.

Great leadership isn’t about balancing people out. It’s about amplifying what makes them shine.

Until next time,
